Mass of Christian Burial for Jovita Aguilera, 76, an Amarillo resident will be celebrated Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Iglesia de San Jose with Reverend Jose Ramon Molina, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Parkside Chapel. Mrs. Aguilera passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Amarillo.

Jovita Sylvia Casias was born March 10, 1941 in Pleasanton, Texas to Bartolo and Dominga Gonzalez Casias. She was a retired Security Guard. Jovita had lived in Dimmit, Texas for many years but moved to Amarillo about 10 years ago. Mrs. Aguilera loved to cook and made the best fried chicken. Her family will always remember her as a strong woman that loved and cherished them all from her children to the smallest great great granddaughter. She will be forever be missed by her loved ones.

Mourning her loss are 3 daughters, Kay Lynn Garcia and husband Victor of Dimmitt, TX, Katy Hernandez and Teresa Aguilera both of Amarillo; 4 sons, Herman Nanez, Abram Nanez, Luis Aguilera, and Gabriel Aguilera all of Amarillo; 3 sisters, Linda Lopez of Lubbock, TX., Margie Palonco of Post, TX., and Antonia Diaz of Hereford; 1 niece she considered a sister, Isabel Casias; 1 brother, Jesse Casias of Lubbock; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Maria Diaz, Thomasa Cervantez, Lupe Moreno, Amelia Cervantez; 1 daughter, Sandra Aguilera; and one great great granddaughter, Luvia Mary Lynn Estrada.
