Funeral Services for Charlie Brown, 80, a former Hereford Resident, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Kevin Bushart, pastor, and Jesse Hodge, officiating. Interment will follow in West Park Cemetery under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday, January 5, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Parkside Chapel. Mr. Brown passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Charles E. Brown was born March 14, 1937 in Bosque Farms, New Mexico to Anthony H. and Golda Mae Boydston Brown. He was a graduate of Dimmitt High School in 1955. Charlie met and married Wanda Riddle on June 7, 1957 in Hereford. Mr. Brown was a member of Hereford Masonic Lodge 849, Shriners, Eastern Star, Worthy Patrod several times and New Mexico Water Well Association. He also had worked for B&E Welding Shop in Hereford and was a water well driller for over 30 years. Charlie loved to keep busy, you could see him gardening or crocheting, he had crocheted over 300 Afghans since 1986.

Those mourning his passing are one daughter, Desiree Bookout of Amarillo; four sons, Shad Brown and wife Tammy of Amarillo, Doyle Brown of California, Robert Brown of Vail, Arizona, Glenn Brown of Lufkin, Texas; two sisters, Betty Singer and Virginia Stevens both of Vega, Texas; grandchildren, Bianca Bookout and Dustin Bookout; three step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda; one brother, Jerry Brown, one step grandson, Shane Warren; a son in law, Bryan Bookout; and a granddaughter in law, Megan Bookout.

The family suggests Memorials in Mr. Brown’s name be made to Shriners Children’s Network, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
