Graveside Services for Douglas Short, 99, a Wildorado resident were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 17, 2018 at Palo Duro Wildorado Cemetery. Arrangements were under the personal supervision of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Short passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 in Wildorado.

Douglas Short was born October 14, 1918, in Friona to Alonzo Bernice and Elizabeth Evans Short. On December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked and changed the world forever. He proudly served his Country, in the United States Army Air Corps, for three and a half years, during World War II in the South Pacific. When he returned home, he met Billie Louise “Tino” Crawford. They married on March 31, 1946 in her Mothers living room in Pampa. He and his wife owned and operated several spudnut shops in Colorado. They were well known for their delicious products. He and “Tino” built seven houses together. The last of which was their current residence. They started building it when he was eighty-eight years of age and she was eighty.

He is survived by one son, Dusty Short of Amarillo, Texas; three daughters, Donna Palermo and husband David of Amarillo, Debra Lee Short of Wildorado, and Dena Kay Miller and husband Chester of Farmington, New Mexico; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
