Mass of Christian Burial for Lorine Schwertner, 87, long time Hereford resident will be celebrated Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Grant Spinhirne, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Umbarger as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Schwertner passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 in Hereford.

Lorine T. Schwertner was born December 2, 1930 in Slaton, Texas to Herman and Mary (Kitten) Schilling. She met and fell in love with Oskar Schwertner and they married on March 27, 1951 in Slaton. They later moved to Hereford in 1958 and she was homemaker. Mrs. Schwertner was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Organization. She lived for her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved life and always had a joke to share.

Mourning her loss are one son, Dale Schwertner of Hereford; five daughters, Roxann Schwertner and Lori Martin and husband Tommy both of Amarillo, Connie Wilson of McKinney, Eileen Womack of Dimmit, and Christy Schwertner of Hereford; two brothers, Joe Schilling of Amarillo, and Ronnie Schilling of Slaton; one sister, Joleen Walsh of Canyon; four grandchildren, Monica Bates, Alisha Womack, Derrick Martin, Anna Martin; and two great grandchildren, Jaxton Bates, and Beckett Bates.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oskar; and eight siblings.
